JLR Vehicle Technician

2 x EXCITING AND NEW VEHICLE TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITIES (JLR)

In preparation for Taylor’s JLR Approved Service Centre opening their latest brand new and additional workshop facility, we are now looking to recruit four experienced Level 2 and/or Level 3 Vehicle Technicians:

SALARIES:
• JLR Level 2: Starting from £42k + bonuses + benefits
• JLR Level 3: Starting from £48k + bonuses + benefits
• On-going JLR Training up to Master Technician (Level 4)

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE (Variable depending on distance)

SIGNING ON FEE: £2000* paid within  six months of starting employment.
(* £1k at successful 3 month review, £1k at successful 6 month review)

OVERTIME paid at double time

  • 42 per week. (MONDAY-FRIDAY ONLY)
  • 4 day working week considered
  • Hours: Mon -Thu 08.00-17.30 & Fri 08.00-17.00hrs.
  • 60 mins break per day (inc. 40mins lunch)
  • Overtime available at enhanced rates.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A VEHICLE TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 2-3)

The Vehicle Technician reports to the Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller.

  • Carrying out Vehicle Health Checks (VHC’s) / inspections (to identify any mechanical or electrical issues) on 0-3 year old JLR vehicles.
  • Carrying out servicing, diagnosing and repairing of vehicles to excellent standards.
  • Perform maintenance, repair and warranty work on customer vehicles.
  • Identify problems with vehicles using the diagnostic equipment.
  • Explain automotive repairs and issues and provide great customer service.
  • Plan repair procedures using charts, manuals and experience.
  • Test the functionality of parts and systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles.
  • Communicating with the Service Advisor / Reception team and Workshop Control.
  • Maintaining thorough and up-to-date product knowledge.
  • Performing any scheduled maintenance tasks according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Adhering to manufacturer procedures and processes.
  • Being part of a team and bringing a high attention to detail.
  • Providing your technical expert opinion to customers.
  • Ensuring that all work meets quality standards.
  • Meeting / exceeding all personal and company goals, targets and objectives.
  • Responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean work environment and adheres to all company policies and regulations.
  • To help create and maintain a positive and friendly working environment.
  • Use of the in-house company computer system to accurately record all activity.
  • Adhering to company manual handling procedures at all times..
  • A willingness to attend any internal / external company training courses aimed at enhancing your skills and keeping up to date with industry changes / standards.
  • Liaise with all departments in a courtesy and professional manner to ensure that the customer and the businesses interests always remain the main priority.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and education requirements

  • NVQ / IMI / C&G Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair / Mechanics OR equivalent experience.
  • Ideally be JLR qualified
  • Numerate and literate (Mathematics and English)
  • Possess a Full UK driving licence

Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician within an independent or main dealer workshop / garage.
  • A minimum of 24 months relevant work experience within a similar environment.
  • Possess a good and varied knowledge and understanding of motor vehicles
  • Good verbal communication
  • Professional appearance and attitude
